15th Annual Los Angeles Black College Expo

LOS ANGELES, CA- National College Resources Foundation will be presenting the 15th Annual Los Angeles Black College Expo on February 22. The event will take place from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Los Angeles Convention Center. Middle school, high school and college students looking to transfer should come out to find out more information on scholarships, financial resources, seminars, workshops, and one-on-one meetings with college recruiters and admissions committees. In addition, you don’t want to miss the step show from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. Students should bring transcripts, SAT scores, and ACT scores for possible on the spot acceptances. HESPERIA, CA- It’s almost time to reconnect with our roots and honor our ancestors. That’s right, Black History Month! Come spend it at the High Desert Black History Month 2014 Celebration in honor of the late Nelson Mandela. The theme this year is, “A Legacy of Hope”. The event will take place on Sunday, February 23 at Seventh Day Adventist Church, 9875 Seventh Ave in Hesperia from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Honorees include Channel 9 News Anchor Pat Harvey and Pastor Jon and Leita Harris of Castle Rock Christian Church. Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., Pomona Valley Alumnae Chapter hosts its 35th Annual Black Culture Festival.

On Saturday, February 22nd, the Pomona Valley Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. will hold its 35th Annual Black Culture Festival, in conjunction with the Pomona Public Library. The event is from 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM at the Pomona Public Library located at 625 S. Garey Ave., Pomona, CA. 91767.

The festival features an array of entertainment, showcases diversity of food, retail vendors, and a dynamic children’s corner. Also provided is an informative and interactive Health and Fitness Clinic all free to the public. Additionally, we will have an Author’s Corner that will include Ilyasah Shabazz speaking and signing her new children’s book “Malcolm Little” and as in past festivals, a special appearance by the Munford Marines and Tuskegee Airmen.

The members of the Pomona Valley Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., a community service organization, invite you to enjoy this family-friendly day of entertainment, enlightenment and education. While the day celebrates and showcases the best of the Black community, the event is for everyone to enjoy.

Family Culture Fair Celebration

RANCHO CUCAMONGA, CA- On target to delivering a carefully crafted taste of African culture and pride several African American community organizations are gathering for a Day of the African Community and Family: Cultural Faire & Celebration.  The event, which brings together local African storytellers, dancers, musicians and poets is scheduled to take place on Saturday, February 15, at Immanuel Praise Fellowship, 9592 7th Street in Rancho Cucamonga, from 11:30 am to 4 p.m. The fair will culminate with two lectures beginning at 5 p.m. from internationally recognized ancient African Egyptian historians and lecturers Merira and Ashra Kwesi. Entrance to both lectures is $15 pre-sale and $20 at the door and $10 for students with valid I.D. Another community favorite is the multifaceted performer and dancer, Makeda Kumasi, who will be featured with her group the Umoja Ensemble of the Inland Empire. Kumasi who is known for her one- woman shows has captured the hearts of audiences both young and old.This is an event that is offering fun for all ages the program also promises African drumming, dancing, poetry and a host of other activities. Celebrate Valentine’s Day with Las Vegas Stars

SAN BERANRDINO, CA- Las Vegas Entertainment will be returning to the Inland Empire for a special Valentines show on Saturday, February 15 at The American Legion, 863 N. “D” Street in San Bernardino, at 8 p.m. All throughout the evening, there will be legendary guests which include “Las Vegas Al Green impersonator”, David Prescott, Mr. Melody, Johnny Brown, H-Len, and many more. This year’s show is dedicated to San Bernardino’s own Mr. Show-in-Tell, Al Wilson, and the late Ms. Mattie Davis. A Valentines Love Affair

SAN BERNARDINO, CA- On Friday, February 14, the Post 14 will be hosting a Valentines Love Affair at the Legion Post located at 863 N. “D” Street in San Bernardino. The affair starts at 9 p.m. and lasts until 2 a.m. There will be drink specials through out the night. The 3rd Annual State of Black Male/Female Relationships Conference will take place Saturday, February 1 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Western University of Health Sciences 701 East 2nd Street Health Education Center in Pomona. ATTENDANCE FEE is $10 for adults  and $5 for teens. Fee includes lunch. Pre-register now at www.pvacdst.org, but remember space is limited! On-Site Registration is available from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at $15/Adults  and $5/Teens. Please note that on-site registration is limited and based on space availability. SAN BERNARDINO, CA- The Southern California Black Chamber of Commerce,(Inland Cities East Chapter) will be hosting the 45th Annual Black History Super Expo Celebration on Saturday, February 1 from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. The event will be held at the Youthbuild Charter School, 606 E, Mill Street in San Bernardino.

The theme for this year is “Transitioning to New Beginnings” which will feature inspirational speakers, dancers, bands, drill teams, poetry, fashion, food and vendors. There will be a Battle of the Bands competition between San Bernardino and Arroyo Valley High School. In addition, a few familiar faces from television will also be in attendance which include rapper Nappy Tee who appeared as “Sweetie” in the reality show ‘Flava of Love’ and ‘America’s Got Talent‘; 10-year-old comedienne Leroya “Roya” Sanford from Disney’s hit show ‘Shake it Up’ and ABC’s ‘The View’ will also be making an appearance.
